Colleen Porter, Clinic Manager of Milan Vet ClinicColleen Porter, Clinic Manager

I have worked here since April 12th of 1988 as a receptionist and assistant. That was before appointments and before computers! Dr. Sweet used to just have a staff of three including him. (Now we have 7!)

I grew up on a working farm in Dundee, Michigan with chickens, ducks, geese, cats, dogs, pigs, beef cows, ponies and horses. I used to show my ponies and horses in 4-H at the Monroe county fair. I have a loveable boxer named Roxie and four barn cats Special, Fred, Penelope and Tush. They are a part of my family, my four legged children. I enjoy working here because I have the best healthcare around available at my fingertips. We use and sell only the best products and if we don't carry it here in stock you can find it on our on-line store.
I manage the office and staff here along with doing all the jobs I started doing, like kennel assistant, surgical assistant, exam room assistant and receptionist duties. We are always in need of training and learn something new just about every day. I enjoy working with my staff; we are like family. It's fun to get together with this group and socialize when we can.
I have been happily married to Pat for over 29 years. Pat retired from Ford Motor Company but continues to work at Bob's Arctic Cat. Our son Troy is an engineer for GM.
When I'm not working I enjoy going for motorcycle rides on my Harley Heritage Softail Classic. My husband rides as well and we really enjoy traveling and seeing the sights with our friends. You may even see it parked out here when weather permits.
I also enjoy socializing with my family (sister's mostly) and friends whenever possible. We love tubing on the Au Sable river in Mio, Michigan and vacationing at Lake Gogebic over in the western end of the UP. I also own a 98 Arctic Cat Cougar snowmobile but haven't been able to get away for a snowmobile trip lately.

Beth Santure, Veterinary Assistant at The Milan Vet ClinicBeth Santure, Veterinary Assistant

I have worked for our practice since 1981. I am semi retired so I only work fill in when someone is on vacation or sick.

I own a kennel called Lone Acre Miniature Schnauzers and enjoy showing and breeding my dogs. We show in agility, obedience and confirmation classes. I also own one famous cat named "Calder" who can be seen in a few PBS TV commercials.

I am also an instructor for dog obedience courses for the Milan Parks and Rec classes.

Due to my years working here, my breeding and obedience experience, I have a lot of knowledge in many aspects of patient care.

I have been happily married to John for over 30 years. He works for Ford Motor Company. I have two grown children, Lindsay & Eric.

When I am not at work I enjoy participating in dog shows and camping with my family in northern Michigan.

Beth Stanley, Veterinary Assistant

I began working here July 2nd, 2015.

My job includes holding your pet when they are here, answering phones, running blood work, and entering medical information into the computer. (Which can be easier said than done!) I also really enjoy keeping up with CE (Continuing Education) classes. The Veterinary field, just like human medicine, is ever-growing and changing. It is my responsibility to keep up with things as they change.

I joined the team May 11, 2013. If you haven't seen me that's because I normally only work Saturday mornings. It's great for me and it gives the other ladies a break so they don't have to work every Saturday.  I have worked for other practices prior.

I own Nicksfield Farm where I make and sell soy candles and lip balm. I am a breeder of beautiful and rare poultry. Tolbunt Polish, Mottled Javas, Swedish Flower Hens & Coming in 2015 Hedemoras-silky & smooth feather. NPIP

I also have a quarter horse named Nick, a mixed breed dog named Toby and numerous kitties Bailey, Kitkat, Sawyer, Sharky & Sig.

I have been happily married to Eric for over 7 years.  And we have a wonderful son, Lucas.
