Colleen Porter, Clinic Manager
I have worked here since April 12th of 1988 as a receptionist and assistant. That was before appointments and before computers! Dr. Sweet used to just have a staff of three including him. (Now we have 7!)
I grew up on a working farm in Dundee, Michigan with chickens, ducks, geese, cats, dogs, pigs, beef cows, ponies and horses. I used to show my ponies and horses in 4-H at the Monroe county fair. I have a loveable boxer named Roxie and four barn cats Special, Fred, Penelope and Tush. They are a part of my family, my four legged children. I enjoy working here because I have the best healthcare around available at my fingertips. We use and sell only the best products and if we don't carry it here in stock you can find it on our on-line store.
I manage the office and staff here along with doing all the jobs I started doing, like kennel assistant, surgical assistant, exam room assistant and receptionist duties. We are always in need of training and learn something new just about every day. I enjoy working with my staff; we are like family. It's fun to get together with this group and socialize when we can.
I have been happily married to Pat for over 29 years. Pat retired from Ford Motor Company but continues to work at Bob's Arctic Cat. Our son Troy is an engineer for GM.
When I'm not working I enjoy going for motorcycle rides on my Harley Heritage Softail Classic. My husband rides as well and we really enjoy traveling and seeing the sights with our friends. You may even see it parked out here when weather permits.
I also enjoy socializing with my family (sister's mostly) and friends whenever possible. We love tubing on the Au Sable river in Mio, Michigan and vacationing at Lake Gogebic over in the western end of the UP. I also own a 98 Arctic Cat Cougar snowmobile but haven't been able to get away for a snowmobile trip lately.
