Who wants to be a Veterinarian?
I would like to introduce you to one of my early informal enlistments into Veterinary Medicine. I attended Vet-A-Visit during the early to mid 1960's. Yes, there were animals back then. The open house put on by the College of Veterinary Medicine at Michigan State University is truly a marvel. All departments, most staff and essentially all pre-veterinary and veterinary medicine students participate. This allows you to see the inside one of a cow's four compartmented stomach.
I know this article may come on as shameless schilling for CVM and MSU. For me this event is one of the galvanizing events for my adult life. We all need to have mentors and things to continually excite us to maintain focus on a long term goal. This event is a rite of spring. It attracts, sustains and fortifies members of the animal caregiver team, veterinarians, veterinary technicians and the support staff needed to complete a great team.
This event is a walk through venue. There are "round table discussions" short seminars of an informational nature for individuals interested in learning more about becoming veterinarians or veterinary technicians
Vet-A-Visit, Michigan State University College of Veterinary Medicine's open house will show you MSU's state of the art facility. At Vet-A-Visit you will see small animals, horses, food animals, and exotics. It showcases the many fascinating aspects of the field of veterinary medicine.
Visitors interested in becoming a veterinarian or a licensed veterinary technician are encouraged to attend the numerous round table sessions offered to have their questions answered.
